The Fire Stick plant is beautiful, but highly toxic. It should be kept away from children.

Pastor Rick Warren of the Saddleback Church was taken to Mission hospital in Mission Viejo on Monday and hospitalized due to eye-burn from the highly toxic Fire Sticks plant. Warren was pruning bushes in his yard when he wiped his face and transferred resin from the plant to his eyes. He says the pain was excruciating.

Which was with the deputy of the country, Sergius Paulus, a prudent man; who called for Barnabas and Saul, and desired to hear the word of God.

But Elymas the sorcerer (for so is his name by interpretation) withstood them, seeking to turn away the deputy from the faith.

Then Saul, (who also is called Paul,) filled with the Holy Ghost, set his eyes on him,

And said, O full of all subtilty and all mischief, thou child of the devil, thou enemy of all righteousness, wilt thou not cease to pervert the right ways of the Lord? (Acts 13:7-10)

A startling scene, recorded in Acts, very similar to the startling scene that unfolded at Rick Warren's house Monday.

Elymas, the sorcerer, withstood men of God and sought to turn away a man from the faith.

A question Rick Warren should be asking our Lord, "Am I like Elymas, resisting men of God and Your Gospel, turning away people from the faith? Am I, like Elymas, an enemy of all righteousness, perverting the right ways of the Lord?"

Will he ask these hard questions of our Lord and Saviour?

I believe that this experience of his was not a coincidence. You, who have eyes to see, do not stray from the Word of God lest you become like the lukewarm in the Church of Laodicea:

I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.

So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.

Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.

Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. (Revelation 3:15-20)
